The V-up is a dynamic core exercise that works the upper and lower abs together by lifting your arms and legs to meet over your hips.

How to do it
- 1Lie flat on your back with your arms extended overhead and legs straight.
- 2Brace your core and keep a slight tension in your body.
- 3Lift your legs and torso at the same time, reaching your hands toward your feet.
- 4Form a V shape balancing on your hips at the top.
- 5Lower your arms and legs back down under control without touching the floor, then repeat.
Tips & tricks
- Move your upper and lower body together to meet in the middle.
- Keep your legs as straight as you can for a harder variation.
- Bend the knees slightly if straight legs are too difficult at first.
Common mistakes
- Using momentum and throwing the arms to sit up.
- Letting the lower back arch instead of curling the spine.
- Only lifting the upper body while the legs stay down.
